Whirlow Farm Visit

On Tuesday the F2 children went on a visit to Whirlow Farm. We had a farm tour and learnt about all the animals. We also looked at how Whirlow was different from Shirecliffe. We had every type of weather while we were there but the children did not complain. They were amazing and loved every minute of it including seeing the Y2s who are on residential.

Get on, read on

We love reading in F2! What a fantastic day of story telling we have had today! First we went on the Early Years bus and listened to Ann tell us stories and sing songs. Our favourite was The Gruffalo! Then we listened to the fabulous author Trish Cooke tell us some of the stories she had written. We loved ‘Catch!’ Then we helped her make up a story together! We were so inspired that we went back to class and made up some stories of our own! Here are Ellie’s and Isabella’s!

Class twining

We had a lovely visit from some of the Y4 children today. They brought their story sacks to show us and we had a great time listening to their stories and using the resources they had made.

Bear Hunt

WOW! What an amazing day we had today. We went on a bear hunt at Botanical Gardens and guess what? We found a bear. It was a beautiful day and we were not scared!

Going on an Bear Hunt

We’re going on a bear hunt. We’re going to catch a big one! What a beautiful day! The children in F2 have been reading the story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” and today it was a beautiful day as we visited the Botanical Gardens to look for the bear ourselves! We looked everywhere for him and we eventually found him when we tiptoed into the bear pit. We even had our photo taken with him! What an exciting day!

Hugless Douglas

We have been reading Hugless Douglas. It’s a story about a bear that is looking for a hug. Today a theatre company called Blunderbus came into school to put on a performance of Hugless Douglas. The children really loved it and seeing a giant bear bought the story alive for them. Douglas had a big hug from Mrs Morton and Mrs Betts, which was lovely. U

Class twining

Today Miss Woods class (Y4) came to share their story sacs with F2. The children loved listening to the stories and using the resources the year 4s made. It was lovely to see the children so engaged and interested.
